We Could Fouter Forever

Preview · 21 Feb 2024      Exhibition · 22 Feb – 01 Mar 2024

We Could Fouter Forever is a collection of work presented by Continuing Education students studying Drawing and Painting with the Open Studio department at The Glasgow School of Art.

The works displayed are the students’ creative responses to material from GSA’s Archives & Collections, presented alongside the archival objects that inspired the artworks. The exhibition aims to not only showcase the students’ individual and collective talents but also to act as a visual dialogue between the work and the archival objects that ignited their creative processes, highlighting the potential of the archive to impact and inspire new work.

The exhibition’s title – We Could Fouter Forever – captures the essence of the students’ creative processes, embracing the Scottish term ‘fouter’: a colloquial expression for pottering around, leisurely exploring and joyfully experimenting.

Encouraging exploration, contemporary response, and interpretation of GSA’s heritage collections, and presenting them through the lens of our communities is fundamental to the GSA Archives and Collections’ engagement goals.

‘We Could Fouter Forever’ will open to the public on 22 February 2024 and run until 1 March, 10am-4.00pm at:

Window on Heritage,
167 Renfrew Street,
Glasgow,
