Student records from The Glasgow School of Art confirm that at least eight Belgian students attended the School between 1914 and 1916.

It is likely that these students were Belgian refugees, arriving in Britain when their country became occupied upon the outbreak of World War One. This information is based on a research project investigating the number of international students who attended the Glasgow School of Art between 1903 and 1949.

A variety of loose artworks, cover designs, correspondence, ephemera, photographs, diaries and sketchbooks completed by and belonging to Archibald Haswell Miller and Josephine Haswell Miller (nee Cameron). The collections includes proofs for book covers and pamphlets, personal correspondence relating to his studies and subsequent career, different ephemera relating to Haswell Miller's student days and photographs of artworks and students and staff members of The Glasgow School of Art.

This collection also includes material relating to Georges-Marie Baltus (DC 098/2) , including photographs of his artworks and his Italian and European trips, and Francis H. Newbery (DC 098/3).

Travel reports and various itinararies

This folder contains two travel reports produced by Douglas Percy Bliss when he visited Italy as well as Denmark and Sweden in 1957. It also contains several travel itineraries specific to different countries. These were presumably created as a starting point for bursary winning students going to particular countries. The are very detailed, advising students about particular areas of interest for their studies as well as offering advice about where to stay, how to use public transport and where to go for help. Within this folder are itineraries for London, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Italy and Belgium. In addition, the folder contains general information about staying in the Halls of Residence at the National College of Rubber Technology in London.
